This marriage contract was drafted in 1792 for the wedding of Reuven, son of Mordechai Shalom Pesaro, and Esther, daughter of Yehudah Haim Sforni. At the top center of the decoration, the bride is portrayed as the biblical queen of the same name. Below her figure is an inscription in Hebrew: “and he placed the crown on her head” (Megillat Esther 2:17), referring to Esther’s coronation by Ahasuerus.
